Moving from another app
What’s the same, what’s different, and what to check.
If you use a page-tree template app
Apps that copy a page tree make pages inside a space you already have. Space Factory does that too — choose Under a page in a space that already exists — but it can also make the space itself, with its key, its name, its roles, its restrictions and its labels.
What to check when you move:
- Your template is a real Confluence space, not a special object. Set one up and read it.
- Placeholders become blanks in curly brackets. Ours are typed, and they also reach the space name, the space key, labels and macro parameters.
- If you relied on copying into an existing space, that still works: everything lands under one new page, so it never mixes with the pages already there.
If you use a space-copy app
Copying a space is one of the two things Space Factory does, and Copying a space lists what it carries that a plain copy doesn’t — comments, blog posts, rewritten links, restored page order, and a list of what couldn’t be copied.
What to check:
- Copies run as the app, so comments and blog posts show the app as their author, with the original author written into the text.
- Pages restricted from the app can’t be copied. The preview lists them first — the first 25 by name, then how many more.
- Every copy can be undone.
Running both for a while
Nothing stops you. Space Factory only ever touches spaces and pages it made itself, so another app’s content is never changed by it. Undo archives a space by default, which keeps everything in it. A permanent delete removes the whole space, including anything someone else put in it — which is why it is only offered when nobody else has worked in the space.
What you can’t bring across
Templates from another app can’t be imported: they live in that app’s own storage in its own shape. Setting a Space Factory template up means pointing it at a space, which is usually a few minutes’ work because the space already exists.
